Creating Your Own 2009 Affirmations: Your Voice To Action

Success has a different definition to each person with common threads. How do you define success? Are you satisfied with status quo or do you want more? Who is ultimately in charge of your success? YOU

Remember this summer when there was rumbling of bad economic news? And the bad news noise just started growing louder and louder. The economy went from bad to worse with store closings, outrageous fuel prices and banks tightening their credit lines.

And to make matters worse even Mother Nature got in on the act with that little storm(Hurricane Ike)reeking havoc with downed trees, power outages, fuel / food shortages and massive destruction to the Gulf Coast. It got REAL PERSONAL for me when suddenly I didn’t have power to run my computer and Internet based business.I could go on and on, and you would probably relate but here’s my point.

Even during this downturn in the economy – guess what? My business has thrived. WHAT? Even with the power off? That can’t be true. OH YES!

Since the hurricane in September, my sales have tripled, new business opportunities have opened up and I am busier than ever in all facets of my business. In addition I am spending more time with family and friends as I manage a balance in my life of work,
family and play.

Even my husband’s greeting card business took off. How could this be? What happened? What caused this shift? How could my business be defying the odds? I made one of the most important business decisions ever, and it paid off. I decided not to be a frog in a pot. What?

I am sure you have heard the story about if you put a frog into a pot of boiling water, it jumps out but if you put a frog in a pot of cool water and turn up the heat, the frog becomes accustomed to the temperature, stays in the pot and COOKS!

So what did I do? I started paying attention to my most important real estate – that area between my ears, yes my noggin. Using some simple yet powerful techniques I invested minutes each day into turning dreams into my own voice. Using my own voice i have taken action in conscious and unconscious ways to turn my business around. And the cool part is, it just keeps getting better and better. Do affirmations work? They work for me.

What is an affirmation? Personal action items declared in the present. Also known as: I am statements like: I am strong and healthy. I am financially fit. I am in control of my thoughts.

Why are creating affirmations critical to success?
Affirmations help you to become laser focused on turning your dreams into reality. Affirmations change your perception and put you in control of your thoughts.

Affirmations work on your unconscious mind which is in control of 96% of your thoughts, perceptions and actions. The unconscious mind is not able to distinguish right from wrong, good from bad or truth from fiction. You tell it the story you want to live and always tell it in the present.

Using affirmations, you feed new knowledge, instructions and literally change your brain’s software. Your brain needs a software update! Most important: Affirmations work!

Create affirmations to define your new reality into measurable terms, also known as “do-able”. Note: Understand is not measurable.

Instead of saying: “I want to be rich”, your affirmation should be stated in the present, and include an exact number. “I earn $150,000 in 2009″. To be even more precise, add more measurable items to the affirmation: I earn $150,000 (net income) from my beauty consultant business in the first six months of 2009.

Other key points to remember: All affirmations are made in the positive and the first person. Do not create an affirmation with a negative statement. For example: I am not stupid. Re-phrase it to say: I am getting more knowledgeable every day.

Include a time reference if possible. Dr. Emile Coue, best known for his simple powerful phrase, “Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better.” This affirmation alone helped cure thousands of patients in Europe and North America.

Be as specific as possible. Remember, the more precise you are, the greater the effectiveness of the affirmation. Here are some effective affirmations by themselves or in combination: To lose weight: I am slim and trim. I only eat when I am hungry. To stop smoking: I breathe clean, fresh air. I am stronger than any habit. For depression: I am a worthwhile person. I attract joy into my life. For anger: I feel wonderful today. I have peace of mind. For fear: I release all of my negative emotions. I am confident in the future. For stress management: I breathe in hope. I release stress and relax.
